What is Transdiagnostic Therapy?
-
Transdiagnostic therapy simply means combining different psychodynamic treatments and interventions to safely and ethically address underlying mechanisms and symptoms that are common across a range of mental health disorders.
-
The aim of transdiagnostic therapies is for clients and therapists to collaborate on identifying unwanted, harmful or distressing cognitive and emotional processes. We will then develop stratagies and mechanisms for managing these processes and offer support and guidance on how to make these changes long lasting.
-
We believe that by implementing a holistic approach our therapy practices this allows us to deliver flexible, person-centered treatment plans that have been specifically created to support each patient/families unique challenges, needs and dynamics.
-
No! Although having a previous diagnosis can be very helpful in providing a foundation for treatment plans Transdiagnostic therapy is designed to treat overlapping symptoms, behaviours and challenges that appear in many mental health conditions.
